Close Encounters of the Germ kind

So I've had a close encounter with a cold this week but I think I've been able to dodge the bulk of it thankfully. There's nothing more depressing than a cold as the weather gets nice and spring springs and there you are coughing sniffling sneezing and dead to the world. Ick-o.

I'm headed off this weekend to explore new places and have new experiences in the heart of Texas, Dallas Texas that is. I'll be exploring the city and attending a conference of science education researchers. If you're interested I'm presenting my paper on how different populations view the Nature of Science in a contextualized way, on Tuesday afternoon.

I am looking forward to doing some running in a new place. I'm a little leery because I'm not a fan of city running but I suppose it could be fun, it's big, it'll be warm, there's bound to be a park or two to run around in. I should get some miles in at least. Need to keep up with those young tracksters I'm working with these days.

Speaking of Dallas. My advisor whom I'll be at the conference with had assured me the grant could cover individual rooms for us, then yesterday he renegs on that and offers to share a room. I'm like 'not on your life!' but how can I say that to my advisor? Well we worked it out and we're not due to be roomies for the weekend. Phew!
I mean, if we were friends, fellow students, coworkers even it might work, but advisor/advisee? That is just too odd to expect to share a room, too much of a weird imbalance, not the person you need to know how they look in their pajamas.
